Mia watched him from behind her dark lenses, smirking internally as he looked her over. "Not a tie necessarily, but I knew damn good and well that you'd give me a run for my money."

He smirked at her words and looked back at the road, the light turning green right as he looked. He eased the car into gear and sped down the road (not really, but yeah.) "Well I'm glad that I lived up to your expectations." They were about a mile from his little apartment and at yet another light.

Miya rolled her eyes and flipped on her siren and lights causing the light to change. "You're a cop now, you can ignore the lights, so book it."

He didn't argue with her, as the cars got out of his way he sped down the high way, feeling the rush of the energy coming from the amazing car. Once he reached his apartment he put his head back, turning off the siren and leaning into the plush seats. "That... was amazing." Brand said with his eyes closed, his bare chest going up and down slowly (he too did not change out of his running gear.)

Miya looked him over from behind her shades before opening her door and stepping out. "That it is. Now, let's go break the news to your sister."

Brand nodded, smiling, "I'm almost certain she'll have a cake or something there waiting for me..." He rubbed his stomach, "This stupid diet I've been on was killing me." Brand said laughing as he unlocked the door and walked in, stopping dead in his tracks, making Miya bump into him.

Miya growled for a moment before standing on her tippy-toes and looking where Brand was.

The sharp dressed black haired man stood from the couch and bowed at the waist towards both people at the door. "Hello. I am James Eddison. You must be Trind's brother." He then turned to see Miya. "I don't know who you are though."

His smile was kind and he was well dressed. Miya instantly didn't like him. "I'm Miya," she said off handedly, not really caring to give the newcomer any more information the necessary.

"Nice to meet you ma'am." Something inside him told him that he needed to watch this woman.

Brand didn't know it, but he had mutual feelings towards the man as Miya had. "Trind, a word." He said, clearing annoyed and angry. Trind looked down, twiddling her thumbs as they made it to their bedroom, the door closing sharply. From inside the living room you could clearly hear them talking.

"What the hell are you thinking having a man inside the house without me here?!" Brand said, getting red in the face. "You have women in the house all the time!" She threw back, he didn't even flinch, "that doesn't matter, I can take care of myself; you're still a young woman. He's a full grown man and..." His voice was shushed, "with that psycho lerking around, what the f*ck?!" The last three words were shouted.

James sighed and headed towards the door. "I suppose I should probably leave. It sounds like they need to discuss a few things."

Miya nodded and stepped out of his way. "Probably for the best. Nice meeting you."

James bowed again and stepped outside, sliding on his coat before stopping on the sidewalk. He knew that car...

After a few more minutes Brand and Trind walked out of the room, both of them red in the face. "where'd he go?" She asked to Miya, Brand looked at her harshly and she quieted. He cleared his throat, "I am so sorry, Miya, she's still very young." Trind cleared her throat and looked at the major, "So..." She coughed a little out of embarrassment, "How'd the race go?"

Miya grinned and stretched her shoulders out. "It was a tie."

Trind dropped her jaw, staring at Brand, "But your best time was 2:08... What was the time?" Brand smirked and also stretched, moving towards the fridge and grabbing two bottles of water, throwing one at Miya. "1 minute and 59.3 seconds." he nodded, "that's right, a mere .7 of a second away from two minutes." He guzzled the whole water bottle. Trind was amazed, "I can't believe that, well... I guess you shouldn't have this now that you've made it onto the team." She started to move a huge Red Velvet cake. "Oh no you don't." He said, grabbing it from her, he motioned to Miya, "You want?"

Miya chugged the water and smiled. "I guess a piece won't hurt. I haven't eaten since Lunch so I shouldn't have much though."

"No wonder you're so damned skinny." Brand said, cutting off a huge chuck for him and a slightly smaller chunk for Miya. "Trind?" She shook her head, "Okay, crazy." Food made everything better for Brand. He handed the plate to Miya and smiled, "Maybe now you'll look like a woman," he teased. Trind picked at her cake and took a tiny bite, "Miya, after you're finished, could I have a private word with you?"

Miya nodded and swallowed a bite of cake before looking at Brand, "I'm mo woman then you'll eva see mate." As she spoke her inner Aussie began to show itself. She flexed slightly causing her every muscle to ripple enticingly before winking and sitting down and taking another bite of her cake.

Trind began picking her cake again, getting a bit more comfortable, but the news she was about to give Miya was anything but. Brand laughed and flexed, his muscles tripling her's, "Testosterone is a wonderful thing, Major Sinclaire." He said mockingly, wolfing his cake down, going for a second piece.

Miya rolled her eyes and set her cake down before standing up and pulling Trind with her. "You may think so, but I could take you any day of the week." With that she pulled Trind off the the bedroom and locked the door. "So, what is it you needed to talk to me about?"

Thank god the bathroom was in a different room, not wanting to hear any girl talk and to get the sweat off, he went and took a long, hot shower.

Trind took a deep breath and sat them both on the bed; "You remember how you told me to tell you anything that was out of the ordinary?" She was wringing her hands on her lap.

Miya crossed her arms under her chest and nodded. "Yeah?" Her face was kind as she didn't want to scare the girl. Too many times had she been too over zealous and scared a witness into a near catatonic state.

"Well..." She began, "Every time I came home from work this week my door has been unlocked and slightly ajar." Trind stopped ringing her hands and looked up, "And the marks have began, you remember? The ones Mrs. Shade had in every corner?" She stood up and walked over to the corner behind the door, pointing to the target shaped marking.

Miya became very serious, VERY quickly and walked over to see the markings. "Has anyone been over this week? And I mean other then just today."

Trind shook her head quickly, "No, the only reason why Mr. Addison was over here today was because he needed to use a phone and use the bathroom." Right as she said the last word of her sentence a hard crash and holler came from the bathroom.

Miya bolted from the room and threw open the door to the bathroom "What happened?!?"

There was steam coming from Brand's naked body, and it wasn't from the water. His whole body was quaking repulsively as his teeth chattered. "T-t-that f*ck*ng s-shower ju-just s-s-shocked m-me." Despite the wetness of his hair, it was frizzed out, same for all his other hair. Brand attempted to get up but fell down with a loud crash, "s-s-sh*t." Trind was paled to the bone, running to her brother to help him up, but when she went to grab his arm, she was shocked, making her scream.

Miya jumped over the two, landing on the toilet and kicked the faucet, turning it off and effectively killing the stream. She then jumped down and knelt beside Brand, checking his head for anything other then singed hair. "Are you okay?" She placed a hand on his bare chest and was relieved to feel no shock.
